Sylvia has been a resident of Penshurst for many years and is a well known artist in the community. She frequently holds exhibitions in the UK where she sells direct, but is also regularly commissioned by individuals and organizations. Previously she lived and worked as a professional artist in Jersey and France where she held many successful solo exhibitions using a wide range of mediums.
Her subject matter is wide ranging from nudes and seascapes to vistas of the local countryside. She will undertake commissions to mark special occasions such as weddings, birthdays and Christmas gifts for loved ones. Paintings of people’s homes and pets are popular and visitors to the village often seek landmark mementoes such as the church or Penshurst Place itself.
Sylvia’s work has been commissioned internationally as well as by the BBC, hotels and greeting card companies, where she currently has 20 designs available.
Her inspiration also comes from her imagination. Her love of the use of light
and body language is shown to great effect in her recent series of acrylics.
