If you drive from Penshurst to visit Hever Castle, go      racing at Lingfield, visit the Eden Valley Museum or just enjoy the countryside, you couldn’t find a more beautiful rural position to stop for coffee/lunch/afternoon tea or dinner than The Haxted Mill.

Situated along the banks of the river and next to the mill ponds Haxted Mill Pondwhich served the adjacent old water mill at Haxted, the beamed restaurant was once stabling for the miller’s horses. In winter it is cosy and welcoming, but in summer the place really comes into its own.

Stroll by the river and mill ponds during the day, watch the weir and soak up the scenery whilst enjoying morning coffee with home baked croissants or, at weekends, a light brunch of scrambled eggs, smoked salmon and pastries.Alfresco Dining at Haxted Mill At noon lunch is served, including new light lunch options. From 2.30pm traditional afternoon tea is available and candlelit dinner is served on the terraces as the sun sets over the fields beyond the river.

The food is highly recommended and the location is stunning. For full menu information and further history see www.haxtedmill.co.uk
