What you will get at The Spotted Dog pub is a lovely old rambling 16th century white clapboard building (which started life as several cottages), panelling, low beams and three open fires. It is warm and welcoming in winter but equally enticing in summer, being positioned in beautiful countryside with tiered beer gardens at back and front.
What you won't get here is fast food or a huge menu! That is because what makes the Spotted Dog really special is food which is genuinely freshly prepared using locally-sourced produce. Cheese and meats come from nearby farms and bread is baked just a few miles up the road, locally grown fruit and vegetables are used where possible and produce from a local smoke house. Draught beers served are Larkins Traditional from the local Larkins Brewery, Sharps Doom Bar and a guest ale from around the country.
Finally The Spotted Dog is a very friendly place where locals and visitors alike feel relaxed.
Tables need to be reserved inside but can also be reserved on the front terrace for the full menu.
Summer opening hours from April 2009 :
Monday - Friday 12 to 11. Food served 12 to 2.30, 6 to 9.
Saturday 12 to 11. Food served 12 to 3, 6 to 9.30.
Sunday 12 to 10.30. Food served 12 to 6.
