What you will get at The Spotted Dog is a lovely old rambling 16th century white clapboard building (which started life as several cottages), panelling and low beams with three open fires. It is warm and welcoming in winter but equally enticing in summer, being positioned in beautiful countryside with tiered beer gardens at back and front.
What you won't get here is fast food or a huge menu! That is because what makes the Spotted Dog really special is food which is genuinely freshly prepared using locally-sourced produce. Cheese and meats come from nearby farms and bread is baked just a few miles up the road, locally grown fruit and vegetables are used where possible and produce from a local smoke house. Even the beer is from the local Larkins Brewery.
Finally The Spotted Dog is a very friendly place where locals and visitors alike feel relaxed.
Tables need to be reserved inside but can also be reserved on the front terrace for the full menu.
Opening hours as at late April 2008 :
